10th – 12th Grade

High school students are considered full adult members of the congregation. Yet, we recognize that they are growing and learning. There are a variety of opportunities in the church, community, nation and world for them to explore and discover who God created them to be.

Disciples For Christ (10th grade Confirmation)

Tenth graders and their adult mentors, along with an adult leader, meet once a month (September – April) for learning, service, and discussion about what faith means in our daily lives. They will also prepare for their affirmation of baptism (Confirmation Sunday).

High school students are encouraged to actively participate in the worship life of the congregation, including music, reading scripture, ushering, preparing and serving communion, media team, and praying.

Youth Group

If you are interested in participating in high school youth group, contact the pastor for more information.

Summer Opportunities

There are a variety of summer opportunities for high school students from mission trips, Bible camp experiences and high adventure trips in order for them to explore their faith, build relationships, discover the world, and learn who God created them to be.

All high schoolers entering grade 9 (in 2022-2023) through graduating seniors are invited to participate in REBOUND where we will encounter God and one another together in new ways through creative ministry, challenging conversation, inspiring guest speakers, service learning, and uplifting worship. Event takes place July 25-27, 2022 at UW-River Falls. Cost is $200. Please contact Interim Pastor Andrea Fluegel if you are interested. This event will include participants from the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin, the La Crosse Area Synod, and the Northern Great Lakes Synod.

The Grace M.E. Carpenter Memorial Scholarship Fund

Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial Scholarship

Youth Council Representative

High School youth have the opportunity to be a Congregational Council representative. The youth gives voice to the ministry ideas of youth in the congregation and community. The youth representative will also participate on the Faith Formation Team. Time commitment is two meetings per month (as extra-curricular activities permit) and being the Host on Sunday mornings once every 8-10 weeks. Term is for one-year or up to three years. Interested youth should contact the pastor or a Council member.

Synod Youth Board

The Synod Youth Board is comprised of high school youth from all over our synod who have  a passion for the future of the church!  The board meets about 5 times in a year to plan Godstock and Christ Jam.  Each conference of the Northwest Synod of Wisconsin has an opportunity to nominate and elect representatives at the Godstock youth gathering in November. Interested youth, please contact Interim Pastor Andrea Fluegel.

ELCA Youth Gathering

High School students will head to New Orleans, July 16-20, 2024 for a once-in-a-lifetime experience of worship, concerts, activities and service projects with over 30,000 youth from across the country. College students may contact the ELCA Youth Gathering Team to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
