Breath of God

Breath of God

One of the characteristics of the Holy Spirit is breath in which Word and wind are one. Throughout the Bible, both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, the Holy Spirit shows up as wind or breath or spirit. Ruah in Hebrew. The presence of Word and wind, of breath, brought the world out of dismay, death and dust and transformed the world into life, creation and renewal. It brought life beyond limits and hope beyond dreams.
